Father Aleksandar Zashov was born in 1981 in Shtip, graduated from the theological faculty of St. Kliment Ohridski at the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje. He served professionally in the Kumanovo-Osogov Diocese of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archdiocese.

Until his arrival in Canada, he worked in the church of St. John the Baptist in Kratovo, Republic of Macedonia. From 2008 to 2014, he was a teacher in a regular school in Ethics and Religion. He speaks Macedonian and English and has knowledge of Russian and Church Slavonic. He is married to Maria and together they have a daughter Lena.

The members of the church administration from St. Nedela extended a warm welcome to him, to his wife Maria and to his daughter Lena in the afternoon of March 2, 2020 and happily welcomed him at the Toronto International Airport. On Sunday, March 6th in his honor in the banquet hall of the Church of St. Nedela, the administration with the president Slave Bunteski organized a warm welcome cocktail.

The first official service was held by the new priest, Father Aleksandar Zashov, on March 8, starting at 10:00 a.m.
